Eins og komið hefur fram í fjölmiðlum í dag hefur heilbrigðisráðherra ákveðið að virkja heimildir sóttvarnalaga sem felur m.a. í sér að skólahald verður takmarkað tímabundið. Schools closed on Monday 16 March due to organizational day
Compulsary schools, preschools and day care centres in the greater capital area will be closed on Monday 16 March, as school managers and general staff must organize school activities for the next 4 weeks, in accordance to new directives from the Ministry of Health and the Director of communicable disease control. The Minister of Health has declared a ban on mass gatherings as of midnight 15 March in order to curb further spread of the corona virus Covid-19.
All the municipalities in the greater Reykjavík area have sent out a communal notice about compulsory schools, preschools and after-school programs.
The Minister of Health has decided to put in order temporary restrictions on schools. This means that compulsory schools and preschools in the country will have to operate according to limitations imposed by communicable disease control. The municipalities in the Reykjavík area will work in accordance with the restrictions to organize school activity.
A decision has already been taken to keep all compulsory and preschool children at home on Monday 16 March, so that all school staff can have an organizational day.
Parents and guardians are asked to stay alert to new instructions and information that will be published over the weekend and on Monday, on our website and the websites of compulsory- and preschools.
New instructions about day care centers, sporting activities, sport facilities, school bands and other leisure activities of children are currently being revised.
